At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, Volkswagen unveiled its latest addition to its EV family – the new ID.7 sedan. Spotted with digital camouflage, this impressive electric sedan features long-range capability and marks Volkswagen’s first appearance in the journey towards its world premiere. With an efficient powertrain and a brand-new design, this model promises an exciting experience for drivers around the world.
Volkswagen’s new ID.7 sedan is set to take the world by storm with its unique electroluminescent light effects due to its special camouflage. This electric vehicle follows in the footsteps of the successful ID.4 SUV and will become one of Volkswagen’s global offerings, available on three continents. With the series production version slated for reveal in the second quarter of 2023, all signs point to a memorable debut for this impressive sedan.
“With the new ID.7, we are extending our electric model range into the upper segments. The sedan will offer top-class technology and quality. The ID.7 is one of 10 new electric models that we are planning to launch by 2026. Our goal? To deliver suitable products for our customers in every single segment,” said Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars.
With the new MEB model, Volkswagen has made sure to satisfy customer needs by introducing a bevy of innovations for the ID.7. From a new display concept and augmented reality head-up display to digitally controlled air vents and illuminated touch sliders, this EV is ready for the future. The air conditioning system features intelligent vents that can detect when the driver is nearby and start cooling or heating the interior accordingly. Furthermore, the Smart Air Vents are designed to maximize airflow while providing comfortable temperatures.
The ID.7 is a sleek and stylish model in Volkswagen’s all-electric vehicle family, boasting an aerodynamic front section and roof that work together to reduce energy consumption and increase the range. The air intakes in the front guide the air down the sides of the vehicle to create a calming air curtain. The dramatic coupe-like roof slope helps contribute to an impressive drag coefficient, ensuring an efficient ride with an excellent range capability of up to 700 kilometres for European versions, according to WLTP cycle testing. Built on VW’s MEB architecture, this model also offers short overhangs and a long wheelbase for plenty of interior space.
The ID.7 is the latest member of Volkswagen’s successful electric vehicle family, furthering their ACCELERATE campaign. Already, more than 500,000 MEB vehicles have been delivered in under a year across China, Europe, and North America. The European version will be produced at the Volkswagen Emden plant and offers a host of premium features to satisfy customers. With the ID.7 sedan, VW is taking the next step towards electric mobility.
